Guys, can someone please let me know if gre 319 is a good score for Indian IT male applicant?

Posted from my mobile device

It'd be a challenge but it's not out of the question, especially if you apply early.

Happy to set up a meeting to discuss further!

Hello everyone,

After a lot of deliberation, I have decided to join the Schulich MBA program (2022 Fall intake).

It was an extremely difficult decision for me to make, especially because of the kind of scholarship offered by Smith and the top-notch career services team.

My best to all the admitted students and future applicants :)

Hello Everyone,

I reside in Canada and am targeting Queens next year for FT mba.

gmat - not taken yet ( will do by beginning of July) . Is it late or ok for next year ?

can someone give some average on what i should be my target score for this school?
As well, until what time I can submit my application.

thanks very much,
Rini

I believe that you should be good to apply in July-September timeframe as you are a domestic candidate. Your target score would largely depend on your profile. The average range is 650-680 for Smith.

You can just call us Beacon - we're certainly not sirs (and also aren't all male!)

I'm not sure we'll have great answers to your questions though because:

1) A higher GRE score is better than a lower GRE score. The higher it can be the better your chances.
2) Applying earlier is better than applying later. The earlier you apply the better your chances.

Beyond that admission chances vary from year to year. I can say that the lowest GRE score for someone of your background that we've been able to support getting admitted to the Smith MBA in the past three years is 321. That individual submitted their application within 3 hours of the application portal opening for the year.

In the meanwhile, if anyone needs any help regarding any aspect of the application, please feel free to contact me.

Hi Abhimanyu9428,

You got a stellar profile. Looks like you got wait-listed because of Being ORM indian male. But be strong, you will be in. As you got wait-listed, I suppose they are nearinv their cap on indian male applicants. I thought of applying aftrr a retake, looks like my chances are very dim as i am token IT guy.

All the best, your profile seems diverse and adcoms love it, you will be in.

Thanks for such a positive and encouraging reply. I also really hope that I will get in.
In case the school decides otherwise, it will be great learning for me. I am happy and to be honest the reason, of limited no. of seats for particular country students, is fair on the schools part.

Once again thanks. The reply made me calm and smile. If you want help with anything feel free to message me.

I have my final interview tomorrow morning (June 15th). It was odd, I'm not sure if everyone automatically gets interviewed? When my application advisor sent me the Kira assessment email, she said 'once you finish the assessments, we'll schedule your interview' so I figured everyone gets invited to the interview.

I'm a domestic student living in Toronto and went up to Queen's this past Thursday to see the campus and meet/party with all the current students which was a lot of fun. The campus is stunning and the city is very quaint so if anyone is considering this or Rotman, I'd choose Queen's (but I'm biased since I grew up in Toronto). I'll let everyone know how it goes, but one of the current students told me that if you get invited for the final interview then that's a good sign. You have to royally mess up the interview to not get an offer.

Hey everyone, I've been offered a conditional offer that I finish my undergrad by the end of this year. They also gave me a full GMAT waiver but I can take it if I want to be considered for a scholarship. I will end up writing the GMAT regardless since most consulting firms request the score. I will accept the conditional offer.

Good luck to everyone!

Ya no problem!

I'm a 28 year old male from Toronto, Ontario
Advanced Diploma in Electro-mechanical engineering technology at Humber College, graduated in 2016 and worked in the industrial automation field ever since.
I went self-employed under my own corporation in 2021 and got my credits transferred to my undergrad program at Cape Breton University. It's distant learning so I'm working full time while doing my undergrad part time. I'll be done my undergrad December of this year and I'll start at Queens in January of 2023. My offer is conditional that I finish my undergrad.

I was sent to Chile for 1 year for an automation consulting project and I think this international experience really helped my application and interview. As well, my very close friend got accepted into the program as well but he got accepted last year, so he was able to meet the current cohort of students. My friend and I went to visit Queen's the other week and I met a lot of the current students and brought up their names in the interview which definitely helped my case. I am very aware my proximity to the school makes this possible but still, driving 3 hours to see the school and get to know the current students helped my case a lot. Something I suggest is they asked me in the interview if I got in touch with any of the alumni for more info on consulting or even the school. I said no, because I already met the current students but for people who can't physically visit, I suggest they get in touch with a couple of alumni, it'll really help your case.

The interview was behavioral where they asked me basic questions on situations like 'have you ever had to deal with someone at work not pulling their weight?'. 'Tell me about yourself'. 'What sort of skills do you bring to a team based environment?'

My best advice is if you made it to the final interview, that's a good sign and you should remain positive but not negligent. You still need to prepare and you should know your story well. Do not ramble, make your answers clear, concise and with enough detail.

I didn't get a scholarship but they said when I write my GMAT, they'll review me for a scholarship. Hope that helps
