But how likely are you to run out of space DURING the quant section. Also, is it noticeably different from pen and paper?

It depends on the font size & content :) I took around 2.5 of those only in my Q...while 1 in V for POE
Its a smaller experience as to writing on a soft board!

Also, please make sure that those pens work. They can be $&#@*$^&@*&$@ pens at times and they let me down during the quant section and I lost valuable time :D.

You can 'trade in' your pad, pen or both at ANY time during your Exam (including during the two breaks). To avoid the stress of having to wait on the Moderator to bring you new supplies WHILE the Test is running, you should plan to exchange your pad during the two 8-minute breaks.
