Hi folks,
I have a question,
Can an "ed verb" be parallel to a "passive verb"?
Example; Second Boshporus Bridge, built in 1988 and also is named Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror Bridge, connects Europe to Asia

I don’t think so. … it would need to be named and built. Not built and is named. Nothing parallel with that…

Adding on to what bb
has said. ‘built’ may be a verb, a past participle, but it is acting as a MODIFIER here. So, the entire modifier ‘built in..’ is an adjective.
You can not parallel an adjective and a helping verb ‘is’.
So correct it,
1) By converting ‘is named’ into adjective.
Second Boshporus Bridge, built in 1988 and named Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror Bridge, connects Europe to Asia
2) By converting built into a verb.
Second Boshporus Bridge, which connects Europe to Asia, was built in 1988 and is named Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror Bridge.
Second Boshporus Bridge connecting Europe to Asia was built in 1988 and is named Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror Bridge.
I would go with the first one as it lays the required emphasis on ‘connects..’, while other make it a secondary information.
