You are correct. It should be neither fond of X nor fond of Y in B.

Jerry knows it is futile to convince his wife to buy the beach house because she is neither fond of swimming nor does she like to surf.

A) she is neither fond of swimming nor does she like to surf.
B) she is neither fond of swimming nor fond of surfing
C) she is neither fond of swimming nor surfing
D) neither is she fond of swimming nor of surfing
E) neither is she fond of swimming nor does she like to surf.

I have a question regarding option D. Even though I chose B, which is correct, I feel D is correct, if ellipsis can be used.
I read D as :
Jerry knows it is futile to convince his wife to buy the beach house because neither is she fond of swimming nor [is she fond] of surfing.

If B wasn't here, is that correct? is D a correct, albeit not the best, answer?

Hello,

I chose D here.
Analysis:
Choice B: 'neither fond of swimming nor fond of surfing'.
For neither - nor: 'fond' seems to be in focus here.
e.g.: she neither loves swimming nor hates it.

Choice D: 'neither is she fond of swimming nor of surfing'
Here for neither-nor: 'of swimming' and of surfing' seems to be the focus.
e.g.: Neither is he focused nor completely deviated from the subject.

Can you please explain where I have gone wrong ? :)

Thanks and Regards,
Ankit
