Take note of the various exceptions in the language
Let me give you one
We say the subject preceded the preposition but it is not always so you know that
Expection for quantitative stuffEg some of the students :)

Perfect. But as per GMAT rules are concerned, AND always introduces plural form almost all of the time. :)
