Hi Guys,

I gave GMAT today and scored 720 (Q49 V38). Now I am confused whether I should attempt again to improve the score and would need experts' advice for the same.

Colleges I am targeting in order of preferenc (all one year executive MBA)
1. ISB/IIMA
2. IIMB
3. IIMC
4. IIML
5. XLRI

Ideally I want to hit ISB or IIMA

Profile
--------
1. 8 yrs of IT experience
2. Excellent academic record
a. B.Sc. (H) Electronics, Delhi University - 79.53% (University topper in 2nd year with 86%)
b. MCA, IIT Roorkee - 9.65/10 CGPA (2nd in the class)
3. Decent extra-curriculars during MCA (nothing during B.Sc.) - Coconvenor for a couple of technical festivals
4. My current company has a flat hierarchy. So I don't have anything officially to show a lead position or something like that but I have few things which I can highlight to show leadership/initiative. The growth in the company has been good and I am considered among good performers

Queries
----------
1. Given my profile and considering ISB/IIMA as targets, do you think it would be a good idea to repeat GMAT? The point to consider is that I don't see myself scoring more than 740.. may be 750 if I am really lucky on that day.

Please let me know if you would need more information to provide a better response

Thanks,
Lokesh

I would say GMAT prep is easier than MGMAT which is easier that real GMAT.
My scores (without repeat questions) : 740 (50,40) on GMAT prep, 730 (50,39) on MGMAT, 720 (50,38) on real GMAT.
Maybe you can use the gmatclub score calculator to evaluate how well you performed considering your practice tests results.
https://gmatclub.com/gmat-score-calculator/
I did it after my test more than a year ago and the tool told me that with my test practice scores, 72% of the test takers would score less than I did and 28% would score more. I concluded that I should leave it like that and not retake. And most importantly, 720 is competitive for most schools but I don't know the average GMAT of those you plan to apply to.

Does anyone know if the quant section on the real GMAT is more similar in difficulty to the MGMAT tests or the GMATPrep tests? I found the MGMAT quant much harder than the GMATPrep questions and was wondering what kind of difficulty to expect on the real test.

The verbal difficulty in both seemed about the same.

Real gmat- Quant is similar to gmat prep and verbal is a notch higher.

For me the real GMAT led to a higher score. I got 600 and 590 from GMATprep and 650 from the real test. to me, GMATprep and the real test are of same difficulty. When i completed the real test i expected to get something around 600 based on my experience with the GMATprep, but the score was much higher.

I have only taken 1 GMATPrep test so far and scored at 750. However, for MGMAT, I consistently score 690-700. I'm not sure which test to trust.

I am aiming for a 750 on the real GMAT. I might try taking a Veritas CAT next week in case there is something wrong with MGMAT algorithm (which I have heard on the forum is not as accurate as it used to be).
