I am currently a MSE in financial engineering & MA in applied statistics master student in one of the Top 20 Universities of USA. GPA:3.9/4.0
Bachelor in Economics and major in Financial Engineering.(China) 3.8/4.0
And I want to apply for an accounting PHD.
GRE V640+Q800+3.0
Going to take the Gmat in July.
I am taking some accounting courses now in Business school: adv financial accounting, forecasting& valuation, tax & management accounting. ( I guess I will have 5 accounting courses after Fall 2012 semester)
I am thinking my advantage is my quantitative background (econometrics, statistics, calculus, numerical method, optimization etc.). Since I always major in financial engineering, I took the corporate financial courses, financial market courses before.
Thanks for everyone. After learning accounting, I think it is so fun! And in the future, I want to become an expert in law & accounting rules related corporate finance, that is the reason I want to pursue an accounting phd.
Have a RA experience for a professor in School of Architecture ( doing programming and numerial methods)
btw, could anyone give me some suggestions on my preparing of accounting phd.
