I'm not looking to apply for B school anytime soon (maybe next fall), but I've been thinking about people who I could potentially ask a recommendation letter from. My current supervisor has relatively strong opinions- both positive and negative- that make me question whether I should her. Do most recommendation letters have to be completely positive? Can a letter talk about development areas?
It is good that you are starting early as you can begin doing things at work that you would want written about in your letters. The letters ask for both how you performed well and also constructive feedback. That said, the quality of most letters is very high so you would definitely want someone who thinks highly of you and will want to write a very strong letter.
If you have a few people you are thinking about, I can help you decide who is best to ask. Send me a note to discuss further:
