Recommended Private Tutoring?

Hi All,

1.5 weeks ago I did the free GMAT Practice test 1 with no prior GMAT knowledge and got 630; since then I finished all the OG medium level Qs, and today I scored 700 at the free GMAT Practice test 2. I am going to start doing Hard level OG questions, however I feel that in a real exam securing 730+ will still not be a slamdunk.

Hence I am looking to hire a private tutor, probably 3-5 hours recap sessions to learn about hidden tricks and rules / what to look out for in a test. I'm looking for score boost rather than learning the basic, my focus is verbal and AWA only. The 3-5 hours can be flexed into longer sessions, but I am aiming to sit the real test by end of July, so not looking for overly extended tutorings. As I'm quite new to this arena, does anyone have any recommendation or approved tutor for this purpose?

I have done some researches this evening and filtered down to a few:
  GMAT Genius (a boutique recommended by Aringo to me), they are not mentioned on this website but selfclaimed to be good tutor, charging almost $2k/10hours, so a bit expensive for someone unknown - does any one have experience with them? 
 Magoosh - very high review, but they charge quite lower fees than other, does any one have any verdict on their ability to boost beyond 730+  
 Veritas - very high review but at the upper end of my budget, c.$2.7k/10hr 
 Target Test Prep - ditto, high review but at the upper end, $300 per hour

So I'm thinking of going for  GMAT Genius  or  Magoosh ; keen to hear your thoughts or other recommendation! Thank you in anticipation!

Hi again! Congrats on your 700! I can attempt to save a few hundred dollars for you or perhaps a few thousand

1. AWA does not matter a whole lot and we have a template that will all but guarantee a 6.0 to you. Search for chineseburnt AWA template 2. You mentioned that you’ve completed the official guide. Have you actually used any guide books to learn strategies and materials or approaches? Things such as pre-thinking for critical reasoning or how to approach reading comprehension? You may be able to pick them up from Kaplan verbal workbook of all the places and probably cover that book in about a week. You can also try the Manhattan box or online self paced courses if you want to start immediately but some don’t allow you to pick and choose (for good reasons). Also, if you are able to progress this well with your score, I can totally see aiming for 750 or 760 and getting a 99th percentile. Nothing wrong to be the top 1%

Hi Jonathan,

Based on your short study timeframe so far - and this recent CAT result - you are likely a really strong overall critical-thinker (which is great!). Many GMATers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they hit their 'peak' scores, but if you want to take the Official GMAT by the end of July, then your overall timeframe is closer to just 5 weeks. While you might be someone who's naturally strong at Standardized Tests, if you ultimately want a 730+, then you might need to extend your studies a bit.

I'd like to know a bit more about your timeline and goals:
1) What were your Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores on these two practice CATs/mocks?
2) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
