Thank you bb that was actually a good idea , you can actually exclude and provide the same email , now the only thing I have to somehow verify is whether they actually get access to the excluded recommender's material or the platform just erases it so they evaluate only the ones existing when you submit the application .Would hate it if it affected the final decision even by 1%.

catinabox yes, you are right I just followed bb's proposal and eventually you can do it. I mean it would be strange if you weren't given the option, there are so many things that could go wrong you need to have a way to fix it .

You can most certainly remove the recommender and add them again. I remember one of my recommenders accidentally uploaded an incorrect document to the LoR and submitted it, so I had to remove them. The same e-mail works.

The exact method to do so depends on the school I guess. Booth/ Columbia have an option to 'exclude' a recommendation, while you can simply delete (if I remember correctly) in most other applications.

Also, I'm pretty sure the Adcom won't bother to look at this incomplete recommendation (even if they can); they probably have better stuff to do :p

Thank you!!!
Yes, Adcom have thousands of applications to go through, they don't care to go through a failed LOR and even if they go through yours, they will just see a draft... but i seriously doubt they will bother.

As a former head of an admissions office, let me shed some light here. The letter will not "go directly to the adcom" but there will be a record of the submission. There will also be a record of removing and adding a recommender. There is nothing alarming per se with these.

However, the best and least risky way to handle this is to reach out to the operations team at the admissions office (usually listed in a "contact us" field somewhere on their website or in the application) and explain what happened and asked them to suggest how to fix. When it's time for them to review your application, including the LOR, you don't want them to wander what you or your recommender did and why. They may not guess in your favor.
