The school I would kill to go to I interviewed with first. I thought my interview went just alright. My numbers are extremely competitive for the school, but I will do anything I can to help me get in. The school fits me perfectly and so does the city for my career goals. I have heard of other applicants who have requested 2nd interviews. Is this common? I am just curious about the option because I want to lay everything out on the table and I'm not sure I did that fully in my interview. It was my very first and I was a little more nervous than usual. Curious what people think

Yes, it is possible but you need an argument for justifying a second interview (e.g. not just I was nervous and please give me a second shot).
The idea of the second interview is that you were not given a fair opportunity or for some external reason treated fairly.
Second interviews are rare and are hard to get with most schools that I know of since otherwise, everyone would be requesting one. Sorry to hear that it did not go stellar. You are probably not alone and many people get nervous and do not perform at the top of their abilities.... I think the best option is to sit and wait or if you have any additional information you can send it to the AdCom - do that....

Yeah, I absolutely killed 2 interviews with 2 top programs, but the interview I'm most concerned with was my first interview. A bit of a bummer. Definitely just going to sit and wait. If I get waitlisted, I can make a VERY strong case for an acceptance. I just fear an outright denial

I guess the other option is to ask for a re-interview. You can always ask and motivate it by stating that you were not performing very well and at first you believed you could not do better but after 2 stellar interviews with other top 10 programs, you feel this interview was really not representative of your performance. If there is an option or a chance to do that, it would be great.

I think it sends to the school a few messages all of which are positive and probably no harm in asking (sorry for flip flopping on my advice there... all situations are different and you can always portray the same situation in different lights).
