Requesting for Profile Evaluation

26 years old Indian male working in a Samsung Research Institute India, planning to move to Product Management / Tech Strategy.

10th - 94.6%
12th - 94.2%
B.Tech (CSE) from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-ISM) Dhanbad. CGPA - 7.78/10
GMAT - 740.
Location : Bangalore, India.
Work profile -
Almost 4 years experience in Samsung Research Institute, India.
Constantly rated top performer among peers and got promoted twice.
Travelled to Korea for multiple assignments and collaboration across various teams.
Couple of awards for work plus a patent filed.
Currently leading fintech related projects.

Preferences: Would prefer to choose the product management/strategy and management line post MBA as a short-term goal.

Would like to study in the US starting next year, preferably a 2 year program.

Please guide me on the colleges that I should aim and what steps should I take towards building the perfect application.

Regards,
Aritra Gupta.

Hi Aritra,

Thanks for writing! It looks like you have solid academics and progressive work experience based on the info you've provided. Do you have any initiatives/involvement outside of work, or leadership outside of your core duties at work (i.e. employee training, company committees)? This would improve your chances of success. If so, I think you can aim for the top 20 US schools -I'd go for a mix of reach schools, schools that are in your "strike zone" and schools you feel even more comfortable getting into.

Regarding schools that are particularly strong in tech, a few that come to mind are: Sloan, Kellogg, Haas (most competitive), Ross, Stern, and Anderson (competitive).

Here is an article I wrote recently on how to get a head start on the application process, which has some good tips: http://poetsandquants.com/2017/05/30/fi ... an-do-now/

Hope that helps! :)
