My interview experience (Very conversational)
Class of 2016 alum, different industry - Actually she's a lawyer. I think we close to an hour. She was so much interested in knowing everything about me and she was happy to hear great stories I shared about Ross. Started with my general background and some back and forth.
- Tell me about yourself (from professional life, and why you need an MBA)
- Interrupted at points and asked questions about my story (including how financial challenges affected me).
- asked detailed questions about current job (and how my boss is taking my decision about the MBA)
- why Ross, what academic and extracurriculars specifically
- TMAT you made a decision with minimal information
- TMAT you had a conflict working with a team, and what did you do
- TMA about what you do to freshen up, you seem to have a lot of things you do
- my questions [lasted for 20mins] - and we spoke for 34 mins = 54 mins in total
All the best to everyone!

Interviewer as a senior vp at a major company. He was very nice and seemed really interested in knowing more about me. He's questions were based on my resume, so it was an interview on a more conversational tone
Beyond the classic questions
How will Ross help you achieve your goals
TMAT you handled conflict
Why should I *not* give you a spot in the class

The interviewer was a recent alum from an emerging market in my region, who is engaging and seems interested in my background in tech and startups. (He is in a different industry)
The interview lasted about an hour, with the last 15 mins for me to ask him some questions about his exp at Ross. Some unexpected questions that I had to navigate, and some of my answers were too long but fingers crossed! Here is the list of questions:
Tell me more about yourself
Why Business School/MBA
Would you want to work in the US or go back to my home country post-MBA
Clarify how many years I was in the US
Why Ross? What clubs/organizations will you get involved in at Ross?
Ask about my current startup’s product and what the business model is
Ask about how I learned and grew in my career, particularly at my current startup when I had no prior experience
Tell me about a time you disagree with a colleague
A couple of follow-ups on the details of the story above
Tell me about one of your failures
What if you got requests from senior leaders, such as the CEO? How did you prioritize?
Tell me about a time that you worked in a team that has diverse backgrounds

-How do you make sure everyone is included while working with people from diverse backgrounds

Just had my interview. It was a horrible experience. :(
So, my interviewer was Kenneth Katz (a Ross alum). He graduated from Ross MBA in 1997!
Seeing his profile, I was already skeptical on the interview format. As feared, it was a very very serious interview, and he was not in a good mood. He did not smile even once.
Nothing like the 6 other MBA interviews I have given in the last days.
The questions were the same that are already on the debrief (Why MBA, Why Ross, TMAT when u worked in a team, conflict with team member/boss, setback).
He kept on complaining throughout the interview that I'm speaking too fast although I think I was conversing very fine as in other interviews. Maybe it was due to his age. He even told me that "I'm speaking fast because I might be nervous, and this is not how an interview should be given". I think it was very rude of him.
Should I email the adcom on my experience? I know it's a done case for me but at least it might help someone else.

It was a great interview, very conversational and she was engaged and interested. I also looked her up on LinkedIn prior to the interview so we chatted about her company before anything which made it feel a lot more conversational and comfortable the rest of the time.
- started with tell me about yourself
- Why and MBA and why Ross blended together (took some time to just chat about all this rather than question response)
- TMAT you worked on a team
- TMAT you disagreed with a teammate or boss
- TMAT you missed something major (with a few follow up questions on how the controls I implemented were continued through the rest of my career).
Overall great experience.

It was great - probably the best interview I’ve had thus far. Interviewer was an alum that left in 2013. He was engaged and asked good but tough questions. He also pushed me when he felt my answer for one of the questions wasn’t quite there which was good!
To be honest I’m not great at remembering interview questions which is why I haven’t really submitted debriefs. Sorry guys :( But the
basis of the conversation revolved around leadership, specifically the different behaviours and rationales that I "exhibited" as a leader. One question that did throw me off a bit was something like:
"Give me an example of a time that you’ve led without force" (or something to that effect!)
I actually asked him to clarify what he meant by force - I felt that it could be interpreted in a few different ways, but he pushed back and said that the question was open for a reason!
All in all, as with any interview just be ready to explain why you want to go to business school, why this business school in particular, and why an MBA is right for you at this moment in time (as opposed to just continuing with your career). Remember that it’s also a two way street - what can you offer them/the class! If I remember any more questions I’ll put them here.
