Yes the general public probably recognizes the Yale name more but so what? Isn’t it more important that the recruiters recognize the prestige of your degree rather than the general public? And wouldn’t those people generally know which programs are considered “better” than others?

GMAT Club Forum mobile appI think you are putting a bit too much weight on the first job out of business school. The benefit of doing an MBA extends way beyond that first job - recruiters' perception of different MBA programs should play a relatively small role in determining which program would serve you better. In the long run, having access to the Yale global network and having the name Yale on your academic records may boost your career way more than the UMich name can.
I doubt this. Which alum would you fall back to? The business school alum right? Ross wins there.
Second, your "having Yale in your resume" should actually help Yale SOM graduates recruit better than Ross 5-6 years down the line, but there's no data to support that. Also, with similar logic, why is John Hopkins so far out? Why is UPenn (which is not as strong as Yale) still consistently the top 3 MBA program in the world? The school matters more than the university, and Yale SOM is just not there yet.
