Sadie sells half the paintings in her collection, gives one-third of her paintings to friends, and keeps the remaining paintings for herself. What fraction of her collection does Sadie keep?

A. 1/18
B. 1/12
C. 1/9
D. 1/6
E. 1/3

Let us pick an easy number , multiple of \(2\) and \(3\) , since we have \(\frac{1}{2} \) and \(\frac{1}{3}\)

Let her have \(12\) paintings.

Sold = \( 6 \)

Given away = \(\frac{1}{3} * 12 =4\)

She has remaining = \(12 -(6+4 ) = 2\)

Fraction of original that she has = \(\frac{2}{12} = \frac{1}{6}\)

Ans-D

Hope it's clear.
