tldr; What would you do?
Re-apply and finish the African MBA even if online?
Apply for my make-up and pre Ph.D classes in the USA?
Or apply for my doctorate program now?
Hey,
Umm, so..I started my MBA (in person) at a university in Africa about 6 years ago...
(I have a BA from an American university..)
But, due to a lack of fees, societal instability, and immaturity on my part...I didn't finish my MBA.
In any case, I would like to go on towards my doctorate and for that reason, I figure I'd knock out the remaining courses of my MBA.
It's a huge mess, but I'm guessing there's no backtracking..is there? Once you've started it, you're in it? Or can I, or should I, call it a scratch? Just "don't mention it". I want the PhD, the MBA was kind of like a "why not?" way back in the day, except now, I'm kind of obligated to finish it...those records don't go anywhere do they? Anyway, it's for the best, I take it. It's just a semester of classes, some make up work I might be able to get away with doing online, and a project.
I would need to complete one semester of classes abroad, ie, in the United States. I would also need to sit for exams I was ineligible to sit for as I had not paid the fees to do so at my previous university. I have 1 semester of classes done. I needed to sit for exams for the 2nd semester, but didn't. And I'd like to take my 3rd semester of classes away from that university, and back transfer them to my MBA program (in conjunction with preliminary or bridge courses that would prepare me for my doctorate, the overall goal..).
How on earth do I explain all this to;
1) My previous MBA program? (My enrollment status must be something along the lines of "inactive" idk)
2) My bridge course program? (What enrollment status am I even seeking? I don't know, I just want to take courses, back transfer the relevant ones to fullfill my MBA reqs and take classes that prepare me for my doctorate classes..non degree seeking student?)
3) My PhD program. (Still undecided, but to be done in the UK..)
It's my understanding that once you've started an MBA, that coursework can't just be ignored. Or might I start from scratch? I dropped out because I wasn't in a position to be doing well at it. I'd like another stab at it...is that how it works?
Or might I just ignore the fact that I ever enrolled as an MBA student and just lose...oh, I don't know, 5 classes, 10 attended...
Who do I talk to about this mess?
Should I just start applying for doctorate programs? Should I re apply for my MBA (I think I'd have to, to regain entry...but, online/not online?. Or should I apply for my non degree seeking MBA+doctoral classes at my target "gap" school. (Like idk, University of San Diego..? 1 semester of business classes, to be back transferred, and 1+ semester of pre-Ph.D courses..)
How does it work?
My life is a mess.
All I know is, if you want to study...you should be able to.
I'm still trying to decide on a thesis, and I guess that's the rub. It'll be something along the lines of proper economic and equitable resource distribution in industrial policy as far as human population growth is concerned. Or something like that...
I wish you knew how much of a mess you can make your life to be if you just follow a "let's see what happens" approach. You'd be surprised at "what happens". In the end, aren't these just hoops?
What would you do first?
Re-apply and finish the African MBA even if online?
Apply for my make-up and pre Ph.D classes in the USA?
Or apply for a doctorate program right now?
How to approach this?
Not doing anything isn't going to happen..just because it's messy, doesn't mean it isn't doable.
Please help me.
