I have been a long time lurker on this forum and am writing you all in an effort to obtain help on my GMAT journey. So far my Quant, RC and CR prep seem to be doing alright together with some improvements on CAT's from my initial GMAT prep exam. However, my approach to SC seems to be garnering much too inconsistent results for me to reach the heights of 700+.
I did the E-GMAT verbal course and found it good in explaining all the concepts covered. However, now I seem to find myself quite lost among my 30 pages of hand written notes. I don’t have a solid step by step strategy when I solve SC’s. I scan the answer choices for any easy to spot differences. Then I tackle the original question to look for anything that seems out of place. Most of the time, I get lost in jumbled long sentences and feel like I am searching for a needle in a haystack. Only that I am armed with a guidebook as fat as a bible with 1000 tips on how to scan the way depending on the color of the hay, the placement of the hay, the type of hay and what not.
I find myself too often going for the answer that ‘sounds about right’. This may be due to the fact that English is not my native language and the fact that I learned English mostly by reading, watching movies and listening to music. I never learned grammar. Nor do I know much about the grammar rules in Swedish either.
I am thinking of ‘drawing’ a temple of some sort in the shape of: 1. Scan for SV error a. Especially look for x..y..z 2. Scan for pronoun errors a. Tips.. 3. Scan for parallelism error (“and” “or” in there?)
However, I feel quite lost.
Dear grand masters and keepers of this oasis of knowledge called gmatclub, please bestow upon me your wealth of wisdom!

I'm not sure whether your grammar is good or not but you surely have a good vocabulary Anyways, e-gmat process is good and I would suggest you stick to that.
First and most important step is to understand the meaning of the sentence. If you can figure out the meaning correctly, half of the job is done. A lot of times the meaning is not immediately understood from the sentence given and if that happens, you should glance through few options and figure out the meaning.
Next step is to find out the errors in the original sentence. Figure out why it is not able to convey the meaning correctly. You should look for few important errors such as subject verb agreement, tenses, modifier issues, etc.
Only after doing the above two steps, you should look at the options. Even if you think that there are no problems in the original sentence, you should look at options and figure out which option is more concise and convey the intended meaning.
If you follow this template, you should not face any problem in most of the sentence correction problems. Again practice is key. Apply this template and do all the official problems. Download Souvik's collection of everything official SC file. You will learn a lot by doing these official problems.
The SC section is the easiest verbal section to make improvements on. Once you understand how to think and approach this question type, there are only so many ways you can be tested. Here at GMAT Pill we developed the 10 core frameworks which detail the 10 ways to approach GMAT sentence corrections.

Hi alseca! since you specifically mention SC, thought I would mention that Hi! Our sentence correction book Sentence Correction Nirvana is perhaps the only book that offers a score improvement guarantee, and is especially designed for non-native speakers.
After reading the book twice (yes! it's an academic book, and so must be read twice in all seriousness, to reinforce the concepts), you will start looking forward to solving SC questions!
The book is available on Flipkart and Amazon.in. You might want to refer to these sites, to also read testimonials of how readers have benefited.
If you want to sample a chapter before deciding to go ahead with our book, please PM me your mail-id (along with the chapter that you would like to sample) and I will be happy to send that chapter to you by mail. In addition, the entire Grammar section of the book is also available for free preview at pothi.
