MBA Applicant Trends 2017
This analysis is based on the GMAT Club Applicant counts - based on the number of applicants on Feb 7th of 2017 and 2016. The applicant numbers are over 50 for all schools and over 100 for schools above rank of 30. Here are the trends I can spot right away:
1. International schools have improved in terms of applicants vs. US Schools, likely due to two contributing factors: US applicants have been suppressed by more stable employment options and improved economy and International Applicants choosing to apply elsewhere due to a lack of clarity on the immigration policy by the US government
2. Canadian Schools shot up this year - we speculate that this is likely due to the international applicants shifting their attention to Canada that has easier residency requirements than the US for MBA grads
3. IESE and IE have meaningfully declined compared to LBS, INSEAD, and HEC. It is not very clear why
4. Booth was a fluke in 2016 - for some reason the applicant numbers dropped significantly in 2016 and then recovered in 2017
5. You can see clear influence the US News rankings have had on Yale and Stern. Stern was pushed down to spot 21 and Yale elevated to Top 10 in the latest rankings. As the result, we believe there is an arbitrage opportunity at Stern since we expect it to recover rankings next year.

Do you think the rise in applications to foreign MBA's is because of the H1B Visa situation? I noticed Insead (+2), LBS (+5) York (+12!) and other Canadian universities have rising figures.

Thank you so much for all the advice and knowledge! You are responsible for shaping many careers and you are shaping mine too.
Having researched various options for my MBA, i'm still confused about what to pick.
I'm from India, i want to move into marketing and eventually become an entrepreneur. I'm aware of my options in India but am not sure which college would be the best fit abroad.
I'm not inclined towards the US and UK because of high costs and visa issues(please correct me if I'm wrong).
From your previous posts, I have identified Schulich- Canada as an option.
Would you recommend any other top college?
My deciding factors are:
Post-MBA jobs in marketing and exposure to an entrepreneurial environment.
Scholarships and reducing my cost of MBA
