I am an international student from India with 7 years of job experience in data management and analytics at Latentview, HSBC and JLL. My post-MBA goal is to speed up my growth within analytics at a reputed financial firm.
I have received admission from Rutgers, Newark (scholarship) and Schulich, Toronto. The word and research have pointed out that it is extremely difficult for international MBA students not from the top 20 schools to place a job in the USA, but it is much easier in Canada. However, Rutgers is rated in Financial Times and Schulich is not.
Another fact that I learned is that most post-MBA placements from Rutgers are within the supply chain and healthcare, which is not my target area. I'd ideally like to join the Finance industry because of my background and the scope of analytics within it.
From online resources, it seems like the post-MBA salary compensations are significantly better at Rutgers than at Schulich.
GMAT Score: 680
I'd really appreciate it if someone who faced a similar choice or an expert can chime in on the pros and cons to make my decision.
Hello
aayushpoonia93,
Overall, Canada, as a geography, appears to be more welcoming and a Schulich in Canada has a better brand value than a Rutgers in the USA. Rankings need to be taken with a pinch of salt at times so we wouldn't worry so much about what FT says. Sync with your goals is there in both places with both schools located around hubs so that should not be a concern.
As an international student one will face some challenges everywhere but we believe they will be milder in Canada; on the flip side, the USA has a much larger economy and that could have an impact on the compensation; having said that, if you perform well and use networking opportunities in an optimum matter, you will be fine.
All the best!
