Between E & D, I didn't really like any of the two options. Though I agree that D is a better choice, what prevented me from choosing this one is conclusion that states that MANY of the species will not be able to adapt. In D the scope is limited to species of birds and rodents. They still may account for minority. Is my logic correct or Do I overcomplicate? Because I thought of this problem as sample/population scenario.
Hello,
ILIAF. You are definitely overcomplicating the matter, a tendency that many test-takers have when they approach CR questions in the beginning. Since I am a bird-lover, I would like to point out that since the passage says
species, that could refer to many different birds within the same Linnaean genus. For instance, there are over 300
species of hummingbirds, one of my favorite birds, and even though they do not feed exclusively on any caterpillar I know of, they are specialist feeders and are therefore quite delicate. Would it be necessary for me to understand all this to appreciate the argument being made in the passage? No, not at all. Just stick to the passage as closely as possible, and instead of plunging into the water, keep yourself at the surface level. Watch how many more CR questions you start to get right.
