Hi there!

So I am gonna be applying to CBS, among other b-schools. Thing is, I may actually be more interested in the 2022 J-Term than 2021 August entry. However, given as all the other schools I am considering are August entries, I don't know if I can secure a spot at the J-Term 2021 during the application dates for August entries (i.e. now). Otherwise, I would apply to the August entry instead of J-Term, simply because it's too much of a risk to turn down other offers and apply on j-term's very unique application timeline.

Could you please help me out here?

Hi there! The deadline for Columbia's 2021 J-Term has already passed. Considering that it is a better fit for you, Columbia is also expanding the J-Term program, and the J-Term program typically has a higher acceptance rate than the August entry, I think it could be worth waiting for. You could get ready now and plan to apply soon after the application opens next summer. I would also recommend trying to connect with the Columbia admissions team and see what they think. Good luck!

Hi Kate! Yes, I know, I am referring to 2022 J-Term, sorry I misspelled once.

I would like to know if applying now, I can secure a place at 2022 J-term before considering rejecting offers from other schools for a regular August 2021 entry (to be received in the following weeks / months).

Ah, I see! I don't believe you can apply for 2022 J-term until May 2021 (that's typically when Columbia opens their new application for each cycle). Since they are rolling, Columbia does render decisions fairly quickly. But to hold a spot in an August 2021 entry program you would need to put down a deposit well before then. You could always contact/email Columbia admissions and double check that they wouldn't let you apply sooner for the J-term option.
