I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a CGPA of 9.45 on 10 and will have completed 3 years of work experience in Oil and Gas industry at the time of joining the MBA Program at your school. I have an accelerated career projection and have already been promoted to a lead project engineer within a year of joining and it is very unusual in our industry. I have also engaged with two start ups, and helped them in their initial angel funding stages.

Indian MALE: Work experience: 3 Years( Oil and Gas)
Undergrad: Mechanical Engineering( 9.45 GPA / 10 )
GRE: 315( Q163/V152)
Extracurriculars: Above Average(A lot of meaningful engagements in the society: Sports, leadership positions in clubs, and community)

I have a GRE score of 315(q163/v152) and am interested in pursuing a MBA

I am really confused on my career strategy.
I am really passionate about marketing but I have limited experience in the field (where I was involved in marketing & strategy campaigns for the two startups I worked with)I would love to enhance my knowledge in marketing through an MBA and join as a marketing analyst/assistant marketing manager at a global technology/internet company

Though I dont have very limited experience in the tech industry ,through clubs and internships I would really network and learn about the and make my a strong candidate

My other option would be as follows
Since I am working in the oil&gas sector where I am involved in project management & technology consulting,I could work as an associate at management consulting firm focusing on marketing & strategy consulting in the energy/oil&gas industry(though hate the industry!!,prefer the TECHNOLOGY/INTERNET industry)

Which of the two would you say is a more realistic and achievable career post mba that would also help my candidacy in getting into the b schools of my choice
Id appreciate if you could help me in this Dilemma.

Well, your GRE score is the equivalent of about a 620 (likely a bit less). As an Indian candidate, this is not going to leave you very many good options when it comes to applying. You can apply with the GRE, or take the GMAT, but my suggestion is (especially since you have a FANTASTIC GPA, and you are young) is that you take the time to really do well on this test, because it can make the difference between night and day (basically, you can get into a MUCH better school with a higher score).

Hope this helps,
JF
