Hi nishantd88,

When you apply to a Business School, that School will reach out to GMAC to confirm the GMAT Score that you have listed on your application. Assuming that you have paid to allow that School to see your Score Report (either as part of the 5 Schools that you listed on Test Day or by paying for that individual Report - currently priced at $28/School), then the School will receive that information. If you don't apply (or don't apply until later), then the School won't seek out your Score Report (there would simply be no point in doing so). This is all meant to say that your Score is valid for 5 years, so as long as you list the specific School among those to receive your Report - and you apply sometime within 5 years of earning that Score - then everything should function as expected.

Hi Rich,

If i selected 5 schools in the 1 attempt, but now i want to change one of them and replace it with some other school. Is that an option? “ I CANCELLED MY SCORES AFTER THE 1 ATTEMP”- so effectively none of the 5 schools received my score.

Regards
Sambhav

Hi Sam10smart,

To clarify, are you talking about re-activating a cancelled Score or taking the GMAT a 2nd time? I have to assume that whichever Schools that you selected on the date of your Exam are "locked in" - meaning that if you reactivate a Score, then the original Schools that you selected will receive access to it. You can still pay the Report 'fee' and send your Official Score to that 6th School though.

Greetings everyone,

I had a similar sort of a query but couldn't get a definite answer from the posts on this forum. I am planning to give my GMAT this year as a college senior however I only plan to apply for MBA after 3-5 years. What am I supposed to do then when I am asked for which schools to send my test score?

Hi LamboWalker,

If you're not planning to apply to School for at least a few years, then it is possible that the official procedures might change during that time - but the current way to send your Official Score Report to Schools is to Log-in to your Account at www.mba.com and use the interface to select which Schools you want to receive your Report (some fees may apply). You can also read more about this subject here:

Hi LamboWalker, easy answer: you do what most of my private students do, and you simply choose to bypass / skip the option to send your scores to up to 5 MBA programs for free.

Why? You first want to see what your GMAT scores are (including the AWA, which takes longer to grade) before sending them to any schools. Plus, as a college senior, you have 3-5 years to keep improving your scores prior to applying. Finally, keep in mind that GMAT scores expire after 5 years.

Skipping the 5 included free score sends costs a little extra in the end—at least for the in-person GMAT, where additional score sends cost extra—but it's worth it:

As far as I know, additional score sends are still free for the GMAT online.

So from what I can tell, I can simply bypass sending the scores for free to 5 bschools after the in-person GMAT which however will incur a cost later for every bschool individually while submitting the MBA application at the time of applying. Have I missed something?

Hi LamboWalker,

Yes - as long as you don't mind paying that per-School fee later on, you can wait to send your Score(s) until you are happy with them AND you want to submit them to the Schools that you plan to apply to.
