The new look of GMATClub rocks.

Whts with all those google ads. We didnt have them before. I keep seeing a google bot in the current users list. Is there any way the access to it can be denied?

toDoorNot, no Google bot = no ads = less revenue. Please look at this as an aspiring MBA! Maybe I am mistaken in this, but nobody told me GMAT Club is a non-profit business :roll:

We are still debating whether to have an ad block between posts. It may go away in a few weeks if it does not bring enough revenue.

two questions:

1. What do all the colors/fonts mean for users? I'm guessing green/bold means moderator and brown/bold means admin, but I don't know what the others mean. Is it listed somewhere?

2. Does the "mark all topics read" still exist somewhere?

Hi kryzak,

I'm new to the board too. Well, red means admins (such as your humble servant - those who get paid for maintaining the site), green means moderators (those who really matter), blue - normal users, grey - hidden 'users' such as google bots. Any more colors that you encountered?

Not sure if its me or all the mods, but I seem to have rights to every single forum (I havent checked all but noticed on the ones I have been on). Also the list of mods for each forum is not available, I think thats a benefit for people who want to PM mods about something. I know I have had people ask to delete threads and stuff before.

i noticed that too river, and was going to sneak by with our new found "powers" :P

Just kidding. Anyway, I don't know if it's intentional or accidental, but now the mods (green/bold) seem to be able to even "ban" people (I found a "ban area" in my Mod control panel)... Is this a Xmas gift from Praetorian? :wink:

About the moderator status - that's somewhat intentional. We did not put back the per-forum Moderator lists that appear on top of the forums but we will, however I see no reason not to give all moderators full power on all forums we have - Praet, will there be any issues with that?

Eventually I would also like to see perhaps a wiki page that explains what moderators do and how to become one.

I'll be checking that broken link, thanks.

Not complaining about the power. I think that we could make a meet the moderators page, people can put up a short little bio, if you are attending a school or will be list that, doesnt need to be the applicant profile with gmat, gpa, and that stuff. Just a way to make us seem human, not like some all seeing eye that blows up posts on a whim.

Completely agree, ripper. That's the whole idea of wiki profiles - there's a space one can write about oneself (just beware that it will be visible to everyone, including spam bots).

I am trying to somehow integrate the wiki and the forum profiles. It's not too obvious yet, but if you click your green name at the left of any post, it will take you to the wiki profile.

I agree w/ kry about privacy concerns in a way. I would rather put up a bio in the profile area, people who aren't already at school or decided on where they will matriculate can be more vague. Even more so for mods who are still applying. Could always make a wikipage with links to each persons profile.

Is that profile area with the more detailed profiles post count limited too? I am sure some people would rather that be a little more restricted...can put a generic profile up here and a detailed one there without worrying about every lurker check it out.
