A 680 is certainly a lot different from a 640, but my first thought would still be retake. I will say that we need a little more information; what is your background? What were your practice tests like? How much did you study? When do you plan to apply? What other areas do you need to focus on? It's almost impossible to say yes or no without knowing some additional details.

Sorry to mistype my score. It is 680.

It depends on how much time do you have before application. You can repass in 31 days. If you do not break schools' deadlines, you can.
Moreover, if you are sure that you can improve your score easily, than just sign up for a resit.
I was admited to LBS with 650, but asked to resit before the programme's start. So such option is also possible.

I am not in hurry to apply for B School and have time. To elaborate my background, I am 32.5 years old Indian male. I have 4.0 GPA in Electrical Engineering (Bachelor in Engineering). I have 10 years of work experience in IT including 6 years in US. Please help me deciding.

An Indian male from IT would be a tough pool to compete against with a 680, the higher the GMAT the more competitive you would be against others with similar profiles.

I got the same score 680(Q: 49; V:34) . Although I am inclined to take the test again, I am not sure what exactly I can do to improve. I took below practice test before the real GMAT. Although my verbal score fluctuates, I was doing quite good at the end. One reason I may find that I took the last practice test almost 10 days before the real GMAT. Could that have played any role? Please help and suggest what I can study to make sure my verbal comes up 38+

yes, retake. To me, don't try to see if your score is within the 10th percentile range and determine if that gives you a shot at your schools. Try to aim for the 25th percentile at a bare minimum because that puts you in the middle 50 percentile and this is the range where a 30 point increase can really bump you up within the pool.
