Hi,

I recently gave my GMAT exam and got 750. But my AWA score is 4.0 which is highly disappointing. I am planning to apply to top 20 B-Schools. Will it hurt my chances? Should i take the risk & retake the exam to improve my AWA score?

Hi,

I recently gave my GMAT exam and got 750. But my AWA score is 4.0 which is highly disappointing. I am planning to apply to top 20 B-Schools. Will it hurt my chances? Should i take the risk & retake the exam to improve my AWA score?

I believe that AWA is related to RW ( Reading and Writing ) and here administration team sees your skills. If you are non-native then show your proficiency in TOEFL / IELTS. If you cross 105+ then you have good chances. TOEFL deals with LSRW. ( Listening and Speaking , R and W ).

I am not sure if you are native then AWA really matters to schools.

Lets see for more responses.

You should ask the schools you plan to apply to.

Hi Marsblyr,

First off, a 750 is an outstanding score (it's right around the 99th percentile overall), so you can comfortably apply to any Business Schools that interest you. Most Schools don't put too much emphasis on the AWA score - as long as you score at least a 4.0 (which you have), then you likely have nothing to worry about in this regard. You're ultimately asking Admissions questions though, so you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile. There's a Forum full of them here:
