I have been working for the last 12 years. I have been doing fairly well at the company on a whole. But over the past few years I am no longer finding the passion that I had towards coding or as matter of fact any work. I just do the work because at the end of the day I get paid. The lack of love towards my work is crackling me up, what do next ? I have thought about switching the job or switching the company. But thinking about it I feel it is going to be the same. I do not see much value. I am thinking right now if I should get a management degree since it would give time to think what to do next and possibly meet up with people so that we could collaborate on business or anything that would fuel the passion.

Hi. I feel part of the happiness is the work you do and another part of the happiness is the people you work with.
I’ve heard of a lot of reasons to get an MBA but happiness is not really one of them 😂 The reason is that nothing can guarantee happiness and the issue with human nature is that nothing will. Whatever you achieve, it will not be enough in just a few months. You have to constantly improve and innovate and do better and get better. I guess in someway, business school would help with that by propelling you forward quite a bit.
Another aspect to consider is that as we get older and move through stages of life, different things become more important to us. For example, in my mid 30s I realized that I cared more about spending time with the family than doing work and getting promoted at work. This is very common for people with families where they want to balance their life work situation and they prefer to be done with work and don’t try to get Extra Projects….
MBA is a lot of work. Not that I don’t think you’re capable of it, but you really have to have good strong reasons to go through that much pain. It’s a big commitment that you will question numerous times during your journey. And if the reasons for pursuing it are not strong enough, you end up abandoning it, only to waste time and find disappointment. MBA is not for faint hearted… The best candidates are the desperate ones, we have no other options and for whom failure is not an option.

That being said, as my colleague noted, it's an involved process. First, getting in is no easy pickle. You have to still communicate a vision for what alternative you might pursue and how an MBA might help you get there. Then, once you're in, you have to work hard to not only earn your degree but also get on that pathway to success and happiness.
Definitely give it a look. You might want to talk to a few current students and alumni as well as go to an information session to a few schools of interest. That will help you make an even more informed decision about whether it is right for you.
