I got invited for an MBA interview and I was wondering if a slim tie is appropriate to wear for the interview.
Can someone please share their thoughts regarding this? Should I go for the regular tie instead?

Congrats on the interview invite!
For the interview, I would lean towards conservative side.
Slim ties are fine but I would stay away really skinny ties.
Personally, I think any ties between 2.75-3.75 inches would work though.
It also depends on your frame. For example, I am 5'5 and would not feel comfortable wearing ties wider than 3.5".

Congrats on your interview! I would avoid anything that is on the fringe for a b school interview. This is not the place to push the fashion limits- just color in the lines. I would go for a tie that is neither too slim nor too wide- just a standard conservative tie. If you want to show some personality in this- have the color match the school's colors or at least be one of them. Mind you- don't go over the top and have their school logo on the tie- but if the color of a school is blue then it is ok to have that shade of blue for the tie. If a school has orange and tan- I would opt for the tan accent if you were going to pull that off. But mostly, you want to just look the part in b school interviews so that your clothes do not detract from your message. So you don't want to look too fashion forward nor too casual- you just want to have the whole issue of your appearance be in the background so that you can have all attention on your message and contribute to the overall sense of your professionalism and charisma.
