My profile says that I am still writing essays. Not sure, why it displays it here in blue. Either way, I did get an interview at Wharton. Hope you hear from them soon.

Purpleshirt, Thanks a lot for the information! The news I got from the current students awarded scholarships is that any scholarship that is meant to pay for tuition is tax free. If you get some merit award that includes tuition + living expenses coverage, the latter part will be subject to a 30% tax. So in MIT's case the only thing one could hope for is actually a reduction in the cost of tuition, so taxation is not applicable. Hope this helps! R1 guys, any schloraship news? =)

R2ers - I would expect invites (WHEREVER you are) up to the decision deadline. I applied in R1, am from Boston, and didn't receive an invite until 10 days before decision deadline.

that means they interviewed you and rendered a decision within 10 days? sort of interesting isn't it...
