Do MIT make calls or just realease the decision by e-mail?
What time do they usually send it??

I scrolled back a few pages (page 29) to see when R1 notifications went out. It looks like they were sent out a little before 8pm eastern. Seems like an email when out and then some people also mentioned getting a call. R1 admits could probably shed a little more light on this. I will be anxiously waiting...

Thanks for doing that! The wait is nerve wracking.

Admits will get calls from current 1st year students - either before or after the email goes out. A very nice touch. I got my call around 7:30pm and then the email came a little bit after that. I'm sure that some admits will NOT get calls due to logistical reasons, so don't freak out if you see the email first and didn't get a call. Some other people also got calls after they saw the email.

That said, it is a GRUESOME wait. It sucks to have to wait the entire day and then stare anxiously at the phone or inbox. But you've waited this long, and the end is near!! :) BEST OF LUCK.

The wait is driving me mad! I know the official date is Monday, but I was really hoping to hear something today. At this point, it looks like we have three more days to go. Long, long days...

No problem! This is one of few times on a Friday afternoon that I will ever say I wish it was Monday!

I was admitted last round. I received an e-mail at 7:30PM on the decision day. I believe everyone received this e-mail at the same time. Then, in the following day, a student called me during the afternoon.

Best advice I got was to just log out of email until 7pm tonight if you want to be sane or productive. 99% change that nothing will come earlier than that. Everything else is a tease )

Aln4407, are you considering Sloan over Booth?

Yeah, I think so. Sloan has basically the best program for ops, which I work in now, and my career goals have an operations and entrepreneurial element to them. And while the entrepreneurship focus at Booth is great with the Polsky center, I feel like the environment as Sloan is a bit stronger.

Kind of secondary, I am a New Englander (born in Cambridge, raised in MA & NH) and would like to get back to the east coast. Don’t get me wrong, I would be delighted to go to Booth and I am feeling fortunate to have been admitted to a number of places I would like to go. If I get into Sloan today I am 80-85% sure I will matriculate.

did you visit both schools? any major differences?

the thing about MIT, which I did not know before applying, is that undergrads and other non-mba students at Sloan participate in the same classroom as MBA students. Very few courses are restricted to MBA students.

Still if i get admitted at MIt there is a 70% chance I will attend, versus reapplying next year (not because i dont wanna attend MIT, but because I want to stay at my job another year, expecting huge promotion)

I've been to both schools twice (once to visit prior to applying and then I went back and interviewed on campus) I really liked each of them. The students I met at both schools were really down to earth and both schools have fantastic facilities. The class size a Sloan is much smaller and I like that as well as the intergration Sloan has with the rest of MIT. Fingers crossed! :-D

Promotion could be good although I must say, I would not want to go through this process again next year! Good Luck!
