2. BC is the diameter of the circle.
Asked: Which of the following is the area of the shaded region?

Area of shaded region = Area of square with side length 4 - 1/2 * Area of circle with radius 2
\(= 16 - 1/2 * \pi 4 = 16 - 2\pi\)

Shaded Area = ARea of ABCD - Semicircle



Side of square = Diameter of circle = 4

i.e. Area of ABCD \(= 4^2 = 16\)
i.e. Area of Semicircle \(= \frac{π*r^2}{2} = \frac{π*2^2}{2} = 2π\)

Shaded Area \(= 16-2π\)



Answer: Option D
