How easy is it for someone to start the part-time program in September 2012 and then transfer to the full time program in January 2013? I really want to start B-school in the Fall but I've missed MOST of the deadlines, and September 2013 just seems SO FAR away. So I've been thinking that maybe it might be better to start part-time in the Fall of 2012 for 1 semester. Any thoughts?

KAS1 - Stern doesn't allow part-time MBA students to transfer into their full time program. I don't know of any top programs that allow this. Stern does have an accelerated format where you can finish the part-time in 2 years, but you can't take part in any on campus recruiting made available to the full-time students.

Bmay44 -- you are right. I contacted Stern and they said that since the PT and FT programs are different, they will not allow part-timers to transfer into the FT program. Good to know!

i too submitted on the 15th. i wonder why we always wait till the last day :-)

any idea what the acceptance rate is ? some say around 50% but i have heard that almost nobody gets rejected.
also, when is the earliest they start notifying ? i want to apply to other schools, depending on what NYU decides.

I've heard they start notifying applicants early to mid-June. Based on my research it appears that's when they admit the strongest applicants. They'll continue notifications right up to the guaranteed date of August 1 (for people who submitted by 5/15).
I've definitely heard of some people getting dinged for the program. I'm pretty sure an acceptance rate of 50% is pretty accurate.

Are the charts and graphs at the top of this thread really for Fall 2012 part-time ? The thread started in Sep 2011, did people really start applying for part-time fall 2012 in sep 2011 ?

the graph shows 1 person interviewed, but the thread started after the start date of the courses, so something is not correct.

I have to believe that some people thought this was for the full time program and put there information in. Noone would have interviewed for the part-time program yet. Also they interview very few people for the part-time program. The vast majority of decisions are made without one.

Glores, you mentioned you are applying to other schools? I assume that is not for the Fall 2012 start?

That is for the fall start. Rider's deadline is aug 1, and LeBow is aug 24, both for fall start !!
so i will probably apply there only if i get a reject.

Are there other good schools in the NJ-NY area that I should apply to ? My Stern chances dont look very good.
How about Rutgers, Drexel, Temple ? Where else are you guys trying, if you dont mind sharing ?

I want a part-time program that is not online.

Are there other threads for Stern part-time 2012 applications ? There are very few who have said they are applying.
When I read the threads for 2008, 2009 and 2010, I can see they were very active.

Anybody other than arunrajak, who got the link to view status ?

Here are the applications so far -
