I know... it's been really quiet here. I keep coming back to see if anyone else got in because I was so nervous during the waiting process, and I really sympathize with everyone waiting anxiously on their toes. There's still hope, though, as I've searched out some of the old threads for previous years. There are some folks who hear on or near the last day, so don't lose hope just yet.

Aisayev - That IS sad to hear about your friend. Did your friend apply to other schools as well?

Hang in there, guys!

Thanks for the encouraging words....its very difficult to wait esp after all the hard work that all of us put in the GMAT and the essays ... Hope for the best for everyone (including me) who is still waiting ...

Can someone post the count for today?

How long has everyone been waiting to hear back from Kroll? I have submitted the forms over two weeks ago. My employer has a 2-week employment verification process, so I assume they are going through that...

What has been their response time?

Thanks

You should contact them to check what's going on, since they have a limited time frame to get back to NYU. When they couldn't get ahold of my former employer for more than a week, they sent me an e-mail and asked me to provide proof of employment (offer letter and W-2).

Also, on an unrelated note, the Stern "ptnewadmits" group now has 310 members; not sure why it went down a bit.

It took about 4 weeks for my Kroll verification to be completed. They contacted me once about verifying previous employment, then I heard nothing until I got the email from Stern.

So, I know we're keeping track of all our stats and acceptance statuses on the spreadsheet. But what do the numbers NOT show? Anyone want to share?

I can start. By numbers alone, I'm probably not the strongest of candidates. I got a low GPA, and my GMAT was ok (640).

What else is there to my candidacy? I believe I wrote really strong essays that explained, but didn't excuse, my undergrad GPA. So I don't reveal exactly who I am on this forum, I will basically say here that I had a side career during college that took up a lot of my time and energy. Thankfully, I still earned a fairly prestigious scholarship and got A's in some of the difficult courses I took, while I let the courses that should have been easy A's (drama, jazz singing, etc.) slide. Since then, I have been promoted at a Fortune 500 company several times due to some high-profile projects I've successfully lead. I was able to get strong (I think!) recommendations from a couple high-level executives here with whom I have worked closely over these years.

Maybe my numbers weren't great, but I think my experience may have pushed me over the edge. I'm curious to find out others' stories and why they chose Stern.

I'm a first time poster and am waiting to hear back from ad-com. Cantwaitlangone, thanks for posting about your background behind the numbers. It's encouraging considering I too don't seem like a strong candidate based on the numbers alone. However, I feel like my pre- and post-college experience (entrepreneurial and unique blend of corp exp), essays (I spent a lot of time on these, especially the personal expression), and extracurricular activities (quality volunteer work) speak closer to my abilities and explain why I would be a perfect match more than a GPA and a GMAT score. Anyways, we'll just have to wait and see if ad-com feels the same. :)

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting!

First, congrats to those who got in!!

This is my first time posting on this thing, but have been following the responses of those who applied and have shared their experience. I submitted my application on 5/10 and am still anxiously waiting on a decision from the ad com. I have 3 yrs work experience in finance, solid gpa (> 3.6), however a less than stellar GMAT score of 530.

I have two questions:
(1) Can anyone provide the current number in the accepted students database?
(2) Has anyone been denied this time around? I'm beginning to lose hope as the August 1 date approaches. I'm starting to think that they're saving the rejection notifications to the very end??

Hang in there, for those who are in the same boat as me.

Thanks!

Hi aj2112,

1) At this point, I see 317 people in the part-time admits group. Up only 7 from a few days ago.

2) Yes, there have been some dings so far. I don't have a number, but I've seen on some other forums/message boards that a couple people have said they were denied.

Hang in there, buddy- only days left until the notification deadline, so there is no doubt at this point that you will hear something back soon! I know the waiting is the hardest part.

Good luck to you, asaf! Yes, I totally agree- numbers DO matter, but sometimes they don't tell the whole story. Let us know when you've heard from adcom.
