Hi all,
I had recently bought the GMAT Club tests for my quantitative preparation. I have attended five tests so far and there have been some strange (i couldnt explain it) oscillations in my test scores.
Test 4 (Q47) - 21/12/20
Incorrect - 12
Accuracy
500 LV - 86 % (with 7 questions in this level)
600 LV - 86 % (with 7 questions in this level)
700 LV - 41 % (with 17 questions in this level)
Test - 5 (Q42) - 22/12/20
Incorrect - 13
Accuracy
500 LV - 100 % (with 7 questions in this level)
600 LV - 80 % (with 5 questions in this level)
700 LV - 37 % (with 19 questions in this level)
The accuracy and the correct answers line up closely yet there are major deviations in the scores. Could someone please explain this. Last week i had GMATprep Mock 3 (official GMAT test prep) and i happened to score Q49.

Since the tests are adaptive, and there are experimental questions, you cannot compare scores based simply on the number of correct or incorrect answers.
For example, you could’ve missed every single hard question and one test and you could’ve missed every single easy question in the other test and you would’ve gotten a very different score. Similarly if you missed 10 questions in a row, you would think your score substantially and be unable to recover.

PS. Most likely score fluctuations are a result of either gaps in certain topics or timing issues....

(i) Though gaps in topics would cause such a drop, I haven't experienced substantially different topics of questions or level.
(ii) In test 3 again I scored a similar Q46 (17/12/20).
I do find however that my Test 5 had a row of 4 incorrect questions at 23-26 while Test 4 had the last 3 incorrect.
Although it may not correlate in any direct way, could you weigh in on how much can I expect in the real GMAT if I consistently maintain an average of Q45 in GMAT Club tests?
