Hi ankushsambare,

That’s already a good amount of time investment, so my first advice would be to step back and benchmark how long you want to prepare for this test, as you would want to get the best ROI on your time going forward. You could also consider switching to other tests like the GRE if you haven’t explored it yet, where in RC you can focus more on vocab rather than logic, which some candidates find easier.

In terms of RC, you’ll need to get comfortable actually absorbing what you’re reading, which comes with a good amount of high quality leisure reading. But along with that, there are some simple approaches that have worked for many. One is to break down sentences into simpler terms while reading, so you understand as much as possible from the passage. If comprehension is a struggle, spend 15 to 20 minutes just breaking down sentences until the meaning is fully clear. Initially it will feel slow, but over time you’ll start noticing patterns in how passages are structured and what the author is trying to convey, including the underlying tone.

Unless you understand the passage correctly, it will be difficult to answer the questions accurately. So keep it simple and avoid memorizing too many strategies while doing this. Just focus on reading and understanding. This approach should help you get through most easy and medium RCs.

Also, use AI at your disposal to speed up this process. I’ve documented a few steps here that can help you identify your gaps during your attempts and address them in the next one: https://gmatclub.com/forum/fix-verbal-blind-spots-with-ai-your-new-self-study-buddy-446835.html

Struggling with RC Even After 5+ Years of Prep – Need Guidance from Experts & Non-Native High Scorers

Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out for some honest guidance on Reading Comprehension.
I’ve been preparing for the GMAT for over 5 years now and have tried both self-paced and live courses.
Unfortunately, I haven’t seen much improvement in my RC performance despite all the effort.
At the moment, I’m getting around 50% accuracy even on easy to medium-level passages, which is quite frustrating.
I would really appreciate advice from experts here, especially non-native English speakers who were able to significantly improve their RC.
I’d love to understand what specifically worked for you—strategies, mindset shifts, practice methods, or anything else that made a difference.
To restart my prep more effectively, I’ve recently begun following GMAT Ninja’s advice and am making it a habit to read non-fiction articles daily.
However, I’m not sure if I’m approaching RC the right way overall.

Any actionable suggestions, study plans, or personal experiences would mean a lot.

Thanks in advance!
