Person below went from a V31 to a V40 on a retake. Although they took some tutoring (6hrs), they mention a variety of free resources/quick tips you could check out. In case you haven't already, fair to say including Official questions (for example, from the Official-Guide 2022) into your prep path would be a solid choice. You can get e-versions of the 2022 guides from the MBA website.

Thankyou for the article.
I think I have incorporated most of the free resources available into my study plan but nothing is helping.
Also the private tutoring is not affordable for me at this moment :(

Hi Gmatlearnerpromax,

To start, since you are interested in some highly-competitive Schools, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement (and the more time that you have to implement those suggestions, the better). There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

https://gmatclub.com/forum/ask-admissio ... tants-124/

I'm sorry to hear that your 2nd attempt didn't go as well as hoped. When these types of score drops occur, the two likely "causes" involve either something that was unrealistic during practice or something that was surprising (or not accounted for) on Test Day. Before we discuss any of those potential issues though, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) On what dates did you take your 2 Official GMATs?
2) What type of study routine have you followed over the last 8 months? How many hours did you typically study each week?
3) Have you used any other study materials besides the courses that you listed (and how long did you use each of those courses)?
4) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchases the ESRs for your two Exams, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you (and you can feel free to PM or email them directly to me if you prefer).

There are several possible reasons why your scores are not improving. You will find it beneficial to determine the root cause before continuing with your studies.
