Suzie had to type 80 pages per day to complete an assignment. She could type only 60 pages per day and is left with 2000 pages to type in the last 10 days. For how many days has Suzie been typing?

A. 50
B. 60
C. 70
D. 80
E. 90

Here work done = No of days * pages per day

total work = 80 pages per day * x(actual no of days) = 80x

However the total work done as on date is less than 80x because her typing speed is only 60 and the total no of days is also yet to finish(10 days left- given in ques)

as on date work done = 60 * (x-10)
pending job is to type 2000 pages

therefore total work = work done as on date + pending work
80x= 60(x-10)+ 2000
20x= 1400
x=70..the total no of days she works to complete the assignment.
But ques s regarding how many days she has been working....therefore x-10 will give u the no of days

Ans. 60

Let the number of days for the assignment be x.

80x = 60(x-10) + 2000
80x = 60x - 600 + 2000
20x = 1400
x = 70

She has been typing for x-10 or 70-10 = 60 days.

This of it like this:

She was supposed to type 80 pages a day to complete. Now 10 days are left so she should have had 800 pages left. But she has 2000 i.e. 1200 extra left.
Why? Because she has been typing 20 pages fewer each day. For how many days has she been typing 20 pages fewer? For 1200/20 = 60 days

Let, Suzie Rad 60 per day for N days

\(∴ 60N+2000=80(N+10)\)
\(⇒ 60N+2000=80N+800\)
\(⇒20N=1200\)
So, \(N=60\)

80 pages every day for 10 days: 80 * 100 = 800 pages.

Total left out: 2000 - 800 = 1200

1200 left out because of 20 fewer pages per day. Hence,

=> number of days: \(\frac{1200 }{ 20}\) = 60 days.
