Hey all,
I'm scheduled to take my GMAT two weeks from today, and I'm not 100% certain about my study plan leading up to it.
Just basic stats:
GMAT Prep 1 (taken two weeks ago): 710 (47Q, 40V)
GMAT Prep 2 (taken a week ago): 730 (50Q, 39V)
What I've noticed is that from GMATPrep 1 to 2, I've significantly improved in the SC, (cut down 50% of the incorrect answers in SC), but my RC & CR has been stagnant. CR has always been my weak point, so the plan is to aim for close to 100% accuracy on RC & SC and minimize the damage on CR.
For RC, I usually get the inference questions wrong, so I've been working on that. I've come to realize that I just havent practiced enough passages to see how the test makers trick you in these types of questions.
As far as I know (From reading posts), in order to hit something close to 750 or beyond, the verbal really needs to kick up a notch. I'm willing to do whatever it takes, but I'm just not so sure which direction I should pursue when I devise my study plan.
So far this is what I've been doing:
Quant:
-not trying to get cocky with the 50 I scored recently, so everyday I do 2-3 GMAT Club math quizzes (mixing up 600-700 level questions) that usually kick my arse.
-Occasionally do the
MGMAT CATs for quant only. Found it very difficult to score 48+ on these esp. because of time
-using the GMAT Club math book to go over concepts daily (these end up being quick reviews because I've read the book many times now)
-to be honest I've stopped looking at OG Problems because I found them to be on the easier side (like most ppl would agree) compared to GMAT Prep or other material
Verbal:
-RC - just doing more passages to get in the groove of learning techniques test makers use to trick you for certain questions (Esp. inferences)
-CR - not too sure what to do...went through OG problems so many times that I basically know the answer right off the bat
-SC - GMAT Club Grammar book has been very helpful - I review this almost daily and end up re-doing OG Questions or using question banks of
MGMAT.
**My main concern is that I don't want to look at too many GMAT Prep questions because I plan on taking the GMAT PRep CATs twice more before the real deal (after uninstalling & re-setting etc etc.) An inflated score is not something I'm really looking for.
Thoughts? I appreciate any advice.
