Since I am Tepper 2nd Year, I am not going to answer your first question as my opinions will be biased.
But yes, you will get swag and tons of it. Last year, I was part of Welcome Weekend Committee and we planned swag not just for swag but carefully selected to give you an memorable Tepper and Pittsburgh experience. I am sure my juniors have done a better job this year around as well.

I attended Welcome Weekend this year. It was a lot of fun and I got to meet a lot of cool people from the incoming class and also first year students already at Tepper. Everyone was very friendly and eager to share their experience. Even had a chance to talk with some professors one on one before the formal dinner on the last night of the event.
As for swag, the official stuff for welcome weekend included a Tshirt and a backup battery pack. They also had a club fair that included a bunch more stuff you could get but I ended up passing on a lot of it because I didn't want to pack it tight in my bag when I flew back.
