Hi guys,
I am relatively new on this website.
Here is the thing, I have taken 3 exam already:
Exam 1: (Manhattan) 430 (q31, v20)
Exam 2: (Manhattan) 510 (q36, v24)
Exam 3: (MBA) 460 (q36, v18) Did really poorly on verbal, I got stressed out.
The problem is that when I practice I can solve correctly almost all the medium questions and most of the hard ones. For me the problem is time, I get stressed out when I realize I have 2 minutes per question. What do you suggest? Just studying under the pressure or something else?
Thanks
I think I am qualified to throw some light on the possible causes, because I was in the same spot of bother few months back. Here, I also would like to partially disagree with madgmat@, it is not just about practice but one needs to fix conceptual gaps as well.
Below are my
GMAT club test quant scores- Q47 being my latest score. I improved my score by 14 points in less than 10 days. Having said that, It is also important to mention that I spent good amount of time building conceptual knowledge.
Quantitative questions-Q47
Quantitative questions-Q45
Quantitative questions-Q39
Quantitative questions-Q33
I did not practice much between the first and last attempt. What I did was review every single mistake that I made during the test. I tried to attempt the incorrect questions without timer, applying all the relevant concepts I know. During this process I also learned new methods. If i was unable to solve that particular question, I went through answer explanations thoroughly. After that step, I scroll down to the end of the page where you can find questions of similar topics, usually there are 5 questions of that same topic. I solve all those 5 questions applying the new skill. I repeat this until I feel I confident.
The reason why I used to get stressed out or why you are getting stressed out is lack of strong conceptual knowledge, unable to recall concepts under time pressure is sign of weak conceptual understanding. Please spend enough time learning concepts before attempting next mock. Hope it helps.
