Congratulations! Can you write in detail about your second phase preparation? Your verbal score has improved a lot.
Thank you!
Well in terms of quant it was all the same.
I used to solve 20 questions each day of 700+ bracket.

Sc: 20 questions each day of 700+ bracket.

Cr: 20 questions each day of 700+ bracket.

Rc: I used to solve some 3 passages(700+) each day before hitting the bed. And the consistency showed as towards the end there were rarely any questions I got wrong on the rc.

The growth in RC reflected in the official mocks too. I scored 780, 770, 770 in the three official mocks I took before the test day, that's why I plan on giving it a shot again soon.

Much more than this I think the factor which contributed was the calmness with which I took the exam. I took the exam from the comfort of my home and that is why I didn't have much nervousness while solving the verbal part, a nervousness which reflected in the V28 last year(All I heard while solving verbal last year were the drum rolls :tongue_opt3 ).

As I am an indian, I have an affinity towards quant and it doesn't require me much thinking, all I require for solving quant is a piece of paper and a pen, the pen usually comes up with the answer and my brain remains at ease.

But when it comes to verbal, it reuqires the use of brain in the truest sense for me and this is where the nervousness made all the preparation and planning go haywire the last year.

So, all in all I think the 10 point increase in verbal is through an amalgamation of calmness, composure and the right amount of practice.

First of all, congratulations! This is super! As a fellow 650 scorer aiming higher, it is motivating to see that others have been able to cross that hurdle.

What do you think about the drop from your mock scores though? Almost 50 points. Anything you felt that was different in the gmat prep mocks vs real gmat?

Thank you for your brief. :) Your hard work and right mentality helped you to crack the beast. Being consistent with the preparation is a challenge. You were religious in this case. And a last question, how much time did you take between two exams?

Thank you once again!

Well I would say the 50 point decrease was beacuse of a bit of nervousness and a lack of time management towards the end. The last 3 questions were of RC and I had around 1 minute left for these questions. The 3rd last question was an educated guess but the last two were completely wild guesses.

This scenario I never faced in any of the mocks, I used to finish the verbal with around 3-5 minutes left in hand in each mock.

Also I felt that the CR questions were a tad bit trickier than what I used to solve on the mocks.

The last factor would be sleep. I slept for only 5hrs the previous night of the exam and the eaxm was scheduled at 9 in the evening. So that added to the fatigue.

Around a couple of hours, because all in all each mock was of approx 2 hrs for me. 1hr quant, one hr verbal. I didn't study for IR even a bit. This strategy gave me enough time to take the mocks rigorously.

Glad to have helped you in some small way. I think your list of thanks and your 70-point increase to go beyond the 700 threshold stand as a testament to the power of GMAT Club. Well done, even if you decide to enter the fray once more. (I would at least let the dust on this experience settle first.)

Yours posts helped a lot. The sc posts were truly amazing, the explanations and the right strategy for going ahead with the questions were amazing. I am thinking of a month of practice before retaking the exam because I feel I can reinforce whatever breaches that surfaced during the exam.

Hello guys.
On 17th march I took the gmat the second time, after having been devastated from the first attempt at which the score was 650.
Yesterday, the score was made available and it is 720(Q50 V38).

A special shout-out to Sajjad1994 for those amazing passages and to Bunuel for coming up with questions that test a huge spectrum of knowledge.

I think of retaking the exam, will post if something good comes out of this decision.

Once again, Thank you guys.

Happy to hear that :blushing: , Wish you best of luck for your future endeavors

It is too bad you cannot order an ESR to confirm your own suspicions of what may have gone wrong during the test. Even so, as I often tell my students, you should focus on what you did right (in your preparation) so that you can reinforce those neurological pathways and set yourself up for success in the next attempt. Do not rush that retake and simply hope for the best. Take it when you know you are more prepared than you were the last time. If that takes reestablishing certain accuracy benchmarks for your practice sets, then so be it. Finally, if you treat the test as another trial run, your mind will be much more at ease, and you will likely perform at a level comparable to what you have achieved in practice. On the other hand, if you grow too nervous and resort to checking every last detail for each question, the clock will continue to be your enemy.

Good luck.

You are 100% spot-on for giving these two gentlemen a special shout-out. Sajjad1994 is one of the unsung heroes of the forum, and I don't think he gets enough attention for the absolutely heroic things he does here.

And despite our best efforts as a community, Bunuel remains underrated. After all, Batman still watches Saturday morning cartoons about him.

Congratulations again, 41396302717!

From which source did you use to solve the RC, CR, and SC questions??

Thank you!! :please:

The CR and RC questions are absolutely bang on on GmatClub, it has a good number of LSAT questions too, which are sometimes a teeny weeny bit harder than the real deal on the gmat and thus help in the preparation.
For SC I would say, the GmatClub has ample of questions, a pool that can last at least 5 months if you solve 20 questions each day, and this I am talking about only the 700+ directory. But you somewhere need to be a good judge of the SC questions so that you do not get any wrong interpretation from the question. Usually a good SC question is evaluated by some of the moderators I mentioned above.

Here are the links to the directories

CR : https://gmatclub.com/forum/critical-rea ... 28861.html
SC : https://gmatclub.com/forum/sentence-cor ... 29750.html
RC : https://gmatclub.com/forum/reading-comp ... 29341.html
PS : https://gmatclub.com/forum/gmat-ps-ques ... 27957.html
DS : https://gmatclub.com/forum/ds-question- ... 28728.html

These links have helped me a lot.
