Hi Expert,
I rejected choice B because it does not convey the same meaning (based on my understanding). Why choice B is preferred over choice D? Is the placement of "only" correct in choice D? Please help !

Wrong placement of "only" is one issue. Another problem is the joining of the verbs "suffer" and "live" with the conjunction "and" - such construction does not depict the relation between the two verbs, and it may wrongly be unerstood that the two verbs are unrelated.
(Note: Ideally the correct option B should have the word "suffer".)

Hi Experts, As for this question, I strongly feel that Option A is the correct one since the 'living' after comma seems to be correctly modifying the preceding clause. Can you please highlight what makes Option B the OA? Thank you.
