Co-ordinates of Point A = (1, 5) Area = 5
Co-ordinates of Point B = (2, 2) Area = 4
Co-ordinates of Point C = (3, 3) Area = 9
Co-ordinates of Point D = (4, 1) Area = 4
Co-ordinates of Point E = (8, 1) Area = 8

ANswer: Option C

Expanding just a bit on GMATinsight 's excellent answer (+1), because, not having read carefully, I got stuck for a few seconds on meaning.

This question reminds me of strange symbol questions.

The rule for this question only: the coordinates of a point give you the length and width (the "dimensions") of a rectangle.

Find its area with those numbers. Ignore whatever else you know about graphs.

The point with the largest area, whose coordinates represent length and width of a rectangle, is C (3,3)
L*W = Area = 9.

A: L*W = 1*5 = 5
B: L*W = 2*2 = 4
D: L*W = 4*1 = 4
E: L*W = 8*1 = 8

Answer C
