The distance between two cities A and B is 330 kms. A train starts from A at 8 am and travels towards B at 60 km/hr. Another train starts from B at 9 am and travels towards A at 75 kmph. At what time do the two trains meet?

Distance travelled by A in 1 hour = 60*1 = 60
Distance between them now = 330 - 60 = 270 kms
—> At 9:00 am both trains are traveling towards each other with a distance between them = 270
—> Relative speed = 60 + 75 = 135 kmph
Time taken to meet = 270/135 = 2 hrs
Time when they meet = 9:00 + 2:00 = 11:00 am

As two trains are travelling towards each other, There is a matter of relative speed and this is the addition of two speeds.
The relative speed of two trains = (60+75) kmph
= 135 kmph
First train started 1 hour earlier, in 1 hour it traveled 60 km
Remaining distance covered by two trains = 330-60 km
= 270 km
Let after t hours two trains will meet each other,
135 t = 270
t = 2 hours
Required time to meet = 9 + 2 =11 a.m.(B)
