The figure is comprised of three squares and a triangle. If the areas marked X, Y and Z are 25, 144, and 169, respectively, what is the area of the triangle marked T?

Side of 3 square = side of triangle
Side of X = 5 ( ~ Area of Square = (Side)^2)
Side of Y = 12
Side of Z = 13

Since the triangle is right angle triangle

Area of Triangle = 1/2 * base (side of Y)*Height (Side of X)
= 1/2 *12*5 = 30

Side of Y \(= \sqrt{144} = 12\)

Side of X \(= \sqrt{25} = 5\)

Area = \(\frac{1}{2} * 5 * 12 = 30\)

Answer = B

Information regarding square Z seems to be distractive; not required in computation

pythagoras theorem is explained in school books using the same figure as being given in the question
for square with area 25 side = 5
for square with area 144 side = 12
area of triangle T = 1/2 * base * height
= 1/2 * 5 *12
= 30 sq units
correct answer option B

Side of Each Square can be found out by taking the square root of the respective areas

Side of Square X = \sqrt{25} =5
Side of Square Y = \sqrt{144} =12
Side of Square Z = \sqrt{169} =13

But we are asked the area of the triangle formed by these sides
= 1/2 x base x height
= 1/2 x 5 x 12
= 30

Answer : B
