Hi Sajjad1994
In the question it asks us about the number of players active in 1960s but we are given data that talks about 1945 - 1962, 1957- 1971, 1964-1977 and 1968 - 1980. How can we be sure that the Appearances, Goals for this data is only for 60s, i.e. 1960-1969??

1960s means years from 1960 to 1969 so any year between 1960 to 1969 will be counted as 1960s.

The following data sets can be picked under 1960s.

1968 - 1980
1964 - 1977
1945 - 1962

can anyone share how much time they took to answer the whole question. i took 5min 43 sec. and how do i decrease this time in table analysis questions of this type .
Sajjad1994
The following table lists the top 10 men’s soccer players with 50 or more international goals along with their number of international appearances. For individuals still active in 2018, their career spans are listed as ending in 2018.

For each of the following, choose “Yes” if the statement is true based on the information provided in the table. Otherwise, choose “No.”

Is it fair to estimate the mean in such a question by sorting that column, then looking at the distribution (here, the 1st element is only 6 goals lower than 5th element, and the largest element is about 30 points higher than the 6th element, virtually 5th and 6th elements are same), thus if we were to take weighted average of the first half and second half, I believe it would lean towards the latter half.

Additionally, woudl love to hear strategies on minimizing calculations on such a question.

Yes, your way of eyeballing it is fine:

If we sort the goals: 71, 75, 75, 77, 78, 79, 80, 84, 84, 109.

Ignoring 71 and 109, the eight values 75, 75, 77, 78 and 79, 80, 84, 84 are roughly symmetric around 78–79, so they keep the mean close to the median. But 71 is only about 7-8 below that center, while 109 is about 30 above it, so the high outlier pulls the average up much more than the low value pulls it down.

That is enough to conclude mean > median without exact calculations.

Hi Sajjad1994 Bunuel, here in option A and C, it talks about players in general of 1940s/60s/80s, and table tells us only about top 10 players. How can we make a generalization out of it? Option B specifies that only listed are in discussion.

It is clear from the setup that those statements refer to the players in the table, not to all soccer players in general. That said, yo are right, it would have been better if this had been stated explicitly, as in “among the players listed.”

However, I would generally advise against over-obsessing about this kind of wording issues in non-official questions.
