Hi I am an R2 applicant and I am really struggling with 150 word international experience essay. Could any of the current students or those who have been invited to interview give any tips on how to approach this essay. Should I just write general things about what I gained from the international experience or should I give specific example. Should it be work related or anything else. Please help Thanks in advance.

I took the "specific example" approach. Its really really hard to stay within the word limit. This was one essay that I had to exceed the word limit by 10 words. To make things more difficult for myself, I used a mini "story" approach. So I dove right into it from the first sentence and left only the last 2 sentences for self-reflection.
Thanks Stopper5 for the answer. and congrats on the kellogg admit. Did you apply to LBS in R1? Where else are you applying in R2?

Thanks Ari123. I applied to LBS in R1. I'm very fortunate to have one admit secured before my vacation, now it can actually be a vacation! As for R2, I'm done with apps, I cannot put myself through anymore pain so no R2.
Even though employment % is far down as expected (from 91% for the MBA2008s to 81% for the MBA2009s) still interesting to see that the average starting salary remained the same in pounds (not USD though). In fact, it even went up by £1,000 to £64K. But while sign-on bonus remains about the same, overall compensation drops significantly because the average year-end bonus decreases from £24K to £16K. Still, overall not bad for this economy!
What strikes me is that the % of people went into finance from consulting is down from 21% to 11%.. I am a career changer and I would like to move from consultancy to finance..
This low percentage is due to bad economy, consultant ignoring finance or banks ignoring consultants??
Class of 2009 did it really tough. Career switching numbers will look far better in the coming years. I can already see a lot more activity by the banks - esp with BofA , Goldman etc. repaying the TARP money.
Hi How did all the R1 applicants from the US pay the application fee in pounds. I mean how do you convert it(the exact rate) and do they accept US credit cards. Did your credit card charge any extra fees for paying in pounds. I heard that credit cards charge for outside the US transactions. Did anyone use CHASE or AMEX specifically? Please answer. Thanks

You can pay the application fees (and even tuition!) by wire transfer or credit card, but using the card is easiest - just pay as you usually would on a website. Not sure if LBS takes Amex, but they do take US Visas/Mastercards. Generally, US card issuers will charge a 1 to 5% fee for foreign exchange transactions - check with your bank for the exact amount.
Sorry work pressures have meant that i have not had a chance to upload my interview experience - big day tomorrow - just wanted to wish all fellow R1'ers good luck
