Hi all,
I've been dinged.

To be honest, I don't know what happened. I thought I had a great interview. After it was over the guy was already explaining to me in detail what I should expect in the first and second year, the things that I should prepare in order to go to London, etc etc, and after all, I was dinged....

Has anyone been denied after going to the interview, or have all the people who went to the interview got waitlisted at least?

Sorry to hear that NovemberRain. But yes there are people who have been dinged. Kittu and madeinfafrica I remember, there were a couple of ppl in the chatroom at the time of decision emails as well, who got dinged.

Best of luck with your other applications.

Hi guys,

Do you have any news about $$$ offers? Or this info will be in the package sent by mail? I have been notified that a DHL package is been sent already.

The email didn't say anything.

rid

Hey rid. No concrete info on this. I also believe there would be some info in the DHL package. Lets wait for that.

Anyone in Europe who might have got the package already?

Thanks bluedreamer and Madmex82, I am thinking on the same lines as I am looking for a career change so an internship will help a lot with that. Also, if I do feel like getting away early, LBS does have an option of completing the mba in 15 or 18 months as well.........

btw I also got an admit from Wharton today but seems like I will still go with LBS......
@Bluedreamer, I can see that you also have Wharton on your list, what is the status on that? and whats your take on LBS vs Wharton?

Would you mind telling us more about your profile?

Congrats mbaaspirant11 on your admit to Wharton also.
Can you share why you are more inclined towards LBS than Wharton?
Surely it is more expensive; but a great brand particularly in finace globally and even in India.
The quality of education might be at least on par and probably better!
LBS is cheaper and getting a job in London post-MBA may no more be easy, with the new UK immigration policies!
It will be nice if you can share your views.
Congrats and thanks.

I feel lbs is a better fit for me with regards to my personal life (opportunity for spouse to work, london location) and also my post mba goal (I am not focused on finance which is Wharton's usp)

I'm also in a tough decision period..., but between Booth and LBS (and perhaps Wharton and MIT)... but in my case my wife's job during the mba is not an issue ;)

do let me know what you decide!! it is really tough comparing US bschool and LBS, there are so many factors to look at........I was so stressed out these last few days......I never knew getting an admit from multiple places would end up being so painful, it is not easy to let go off a strong brand (W in my case) for other things that made more sense, but at the end I just listened to my heart :)

nopes no $$ from lbs......are they sending out scholarships in the postal pack? I didn;t know that.......I though I will have to apply for schols separately, still waiting for the login for the portal so don't really have much info about it.

I heard somewhere that the $$$ decisions were 2 days after the admission email.

In addition, in my email it is stated: Within the next week or so you will receive your “Offer Pack”.
So there is some hope to receive some kind of incentive coming in the DHL package ;)

i think offer pack is just an admission offer on hardcopy along with some other information........though I won't mind if they send some $$ as well :D ........The admission also mentioned the portal and said
Portal is the School’s online gateway and will enable you to:
c. Gather detailed information on funding and scholarships.

This is why I thought we will need to apply for schols separately after receiving the login details.

I guess you are right.....just checked the financing details on the website and for some of the scholarships it is mentioned that all applicants who receive an admission offer will be automatically considered for this award, for the rest it says we will have to apply separately.

Going by last year's thread, a separate email was reported for the $$ on the around the 23rd of Dec. Has anyone got the portal login yet, or maybe they send the scholarship details along with the portal login...

I didn't received any login or scholarship info, my wife neither. It would be great to receive a scholarship to put something on the LBS side of our school decision. We are really confused.

mba aspirant11,

With regard to immigartion policies of UK, there are changes in the offing. These will apply from April 2011 onwards.
One of the proposals being considered is, I think, removing the possibility of dependents of student visa holders being automatically able to work in UK. They may have to go throught he same Tier-II points system.
Just make sure.

Congratulations and best wishes.

Hi Bluedreamer congratulations on your admit to LBS.
So few Indians seem to have gotten an admit. Could you kindly give details of your profile- undergrad/ work experience and any thing else that set you apart from most other applicants.
Thanks in advance.

Hey mbaaspirant. I got the Wharton ding yesterday. But in any case, I was much more inclined towards LBS and a Wharton admit would have left me as confused as you are. See both are great schools. Wharton is a bigger brand for sure globally. But I believe it really depends on what your priorities are. I prefer a small classroom and the exotic cultural experience of London and Europe. My wife would also be accompanying me, she has the opportunity to work when we are there, which won't have been possible in US. I cant really give too much details on my career goals at this point, but UK is slightly ahead on that factor as well. And lastly, if I have to spend a few years of my life somewhere, I would really like to do that in London or somewhere in Europe than in US..a completely personal choice. But as I said, take your call calmly, you can't go much wrong either way.

Let me know if you freeze on LBS. Would look forward to seeing you in London!
