mba aspirant11,

With regard to immigartion policies of UK, there are changes in the offing. These will apply from April 2011 onwards.
One of the proposals being considered is, I think, removing the possibility of dependents of student visa holders being automatically able to work in UK. They may have to go throught he same Tier-II points system.
Just make sure.

Congratulations and best wishes.

Ya have heard about all that.......but this doesn't affect us as my husband is not planning to go as a dependant, he will only be going if his company either transfers him or sends him on a short term assignment to London / Europe which will anyways be a Tier II work visa.

Sorry guys for being out of touch. Have got piled up with loads of work. Just logged in to inform that I just got an email from the admissions office stating that the scholarship offers will be sent in the 1st week of January. So till then, stay tight and calm :)

Btw, I have given my final acceptance and would surely be reaching London coming August 8-)

Best of Luck to all the R2 applicants!

I haven't received any such email informing about scholarship dates :( . Did you write to them asking about it? When you say final acceptance that means you have submitted the commitment money is it? I am planning to do that in Jan......

Sorry guys for leaving you anxious and confused. They did not e-mail from themselves, so there is nothing you should be worried on missing out. I had myself sent a couple of queries and asked about the scholarships as well. On which they mentioned that they will start letting people know from the 1st week of January.

Hope that helps.

Hi guys!

I have just finished my first try on GMAT and i got 650.
I feel like i want to retake it cosz i havent studied before going to the exam so i suppose i can do it better, or at least this is what i expect ;-)

But... do u think i should retake if i want to be accepted on LBS?
I'm a spanish IT engineer, with 8 years of work experience.

what do u think? I'm a bit confused now :-S

And other important question, if i apply in one round, can i apply again this year if my application is better? (for example better GMAT)

Thanks a lot!!

Hola,

Yo también soy español e Ingeniero Informático :).

You should definitely study the GMAT for at least a month. If you have scored 650 without studying it is likely that you will score 700-750.

I think 650 is a bit low for LBS, considering that you can do it better.

By the way, this thread seems for you ;): calling-all-spain-latam-fall-2011-applicants-en-espanol-100826.html

Opinion like that confirm the idea of retaking it in one or two months

Folks I have couple of questions - for anyone who have insights around the following:

Does R3 LBS app have significantly lower chances of getting accepted or do all rounds have the same weight?

The LBS site mentions that an application can be submitted on deadline date without rec letters (which can follow afterwards), does it mention anywhere how long after the round deadline can the recommender's submit their letters and still be considered in that round?

Very interested in this too!! Btw I emailed the admission office yesterday about the recommendation letters with the same exact question and this is their response:

"Thank you for your email and interest in the London Business School.

Whilst we do not advertise this on our website we do understand that sometimes referees can be busy and not able to submit the reference by the deadline date so yes we will allow a one week extension from the date of the stage deadline – however it is in your interest to ensure your application is as complete as possible as those applications with missing references will not get processed until they are complete.

Kindest Regards
Salma"

If the Admissions Office confided in you that they don't advertise this fact on their website, do you think it makes any sense to publish that very fact word-for-word from a private e-mail on these public forums? A little discretion goes a long way.

It's a known fact that LBS allows a one week extension for letters of recommendation. It's been mentioned on this forum several times in the past. I was just trying to back that info up with facts and not assumptions as it is too often the case in forums such as this one. Btw, if they're willing to give that information out by email it's clearly not confidential and I don't see what's wrong with sharing it.

Oh nice. So you have got it. Although it will kill the surprise element when I get the packet, but I am still eager to know what else is there in it. C'mon rid let us know the contents :)
