This sentence expresses a list of effects created by radical inventions and innovations.

These effects are enumerated in a list.

The first member of the list sets the structure for parallel construction. Because the first member of the list has an -ing verb form, the second and third members of the list (creating . . ., and revolutionizing . . .) must have -ing verb forms in order to maintain parallel structure.

HKD1710 , I think you may have a small typo. The correct title is "the Information Age." :-)
